    The flood situation in Assam's Barpeta district is still grim, as over 1.35 lakh people have been affected. Many flood-affected people have been forced to live along with domestic animals on higher lands after the flood waters inundated their houses. Assam floods over the past month has resulted in the loss of life, extensive damage to infrastructure, road closures, crop destruction, and livestock loss. Approximately 500 families live in the Rowmari Pathar area, and most have lost their lands and homes due to erosion and flood problems. The current flood has affected nearly 140,000 people and submerged 179 villages in the district.
